Blog, Humbug!

I am not a fan of mindlessly blogging just to blog.    So you may blame my long absence from these pages on my lack of relevant inspiration.

That, and Netflix.

Because I have little to say, I have (uncharacteristically) decided to keep this short.

Beer Pretzels
Although it wasn't Martha-sanctioned, one of my recipes for last month was Beer Pretzels.  They were delicious, and I don't think it was entirely due to the fact that I hadn't eaten white flour or sugar for two weeks.  The Taste Of Home recipe for these puppies had me boiling the dough in baking soda water before baking them, giving the resultant clumps o' goodness a chewy outside and soft inside.  You'll note that my impatience for white flour kept me from rolling out the dough to the proper thinness in order to achieve the classic pretzel shape.  They were still awesome.

Meatball Casserole
Martha and I made a Meatball Casserole for our second recipe.  Bee, in true fashion, snorted and got kicked out of the kitchen while I was trying to cook.  And -- again, in true fashion -- he ended up loving the beef/pork bites of deliciousness.  We cranked it up to eleven a few days later by adding the leftover meatballs to our homemade spaghetti sauce and having pasta.

Lastly, I felt the need to share a book recommendation with you:
It is well worth the read, particularly when one comes away with such sage advice as this:
