What I Was Doing When I Wasn't Sitting On My Ass

after
The kitchen comes along!  Below I will show some before and after photos.  Please note that I have made sure the kitchen was extremely messy for the "before" photos, and unusually clean for the "afters".  This is to unabashedly try to influence you.

Note that we removed the tall pantry, leaving us with:
counter before

counter after (still needs a backsplash)
As you may recall, this is the counter top we built out of reclaimed Brazillian Cherry flooring.

And then there's my spray paint updates:
fridge before
fridge after
(Just don't drag out the fridge, because the parts hidden by the counter and wall are still white[ish]).
Transforming the fridge was fun, but  VERY messy:
despite dropcloths EVERYWHERE, there was quite a bit of paint floating around
Luckily, Bee -- who has a ridiculous fear of toxic carcinogens -- didn't see just how trashed everything got; I was able to wipe it all up with soap and water before he came in (but not before he noticed that my nose canals were all black and my hair was sticky).

And my favorite (and substantially-less unhealthy-to-complete):
vent before (or kind of "during")

vent after
That can of spray paint was the best $7 I spent.

dining area wall before
dining area after (still needs new art, chairs, maybe a rug, and light fixture)
Plus, Bee built a pot rack:
So, we're getting close to being done.  We're still going to change out the ceiling lights, plus I haven't figured out the door paint colors:
door to the garage (primed but not painted)
door outside (which I like, except I'm worried that whole area is too "neutral" in color)
Which is why I've created a poll (off to the right) to get your paint-color opinion (so please give it!)

I do wonder if I would be better off adding a pop of color through the reclaimed desk I got on craigslist:
Martha suggests "Wampum"
Besides the kitchen, I actually did a little work in the yard:
we moved lumber stacks and built a small planter box near the bees

front flower bed before
front flower bed after (and with the cheating use of better light settings on my camera)

back flower bed before
back flower bed after (I LOVE MULCH!!)
So, help me out and take the poll, or leave your suggestions below!
