I Just Don't Learn

Inside those boxes are the contents of my latest project (well, one of my latest projects).

Care to take a peek?

frames
Yes, those boxes contain a beehive: in about a week, I will be the proud parent to not only 2 cats and 5 chickens, but about 10,000 bees!

In case you didn't guess it, the beehive is unassembled.  Which means I've spent the last few days putting together frames and boxes (the boxes are known as 'hive bodies' and 'supers', depending on their size).  Thus far, I've glued and nailed together 23 frames and one hive body; I still have 37 frames, one hive body and two supers to go.  Sigh; I suppose I should stop writing and get out there and work.  But this is MUCH more interesting.

I'll post pictures of what my hive looks like once it's (more) assembled.

PS - In case you were wondering: Bee did help me, but I'm afraid to mention his name too much in case you start confusing "Bee" with "bees".  So I think it's best I just take credit for everything.

And now on to more important matters:

I totally blame Bee for my purchase of that.  When I left to run errands today, he asked me to get some onions if I happened to go past the store.  Well, the only store I happened to go past just happened to be  one of only two establishments in the area that sell this flavor (as recently discovered through the Ben & Jerry's website [www.benjerry.com!]).  And today just happens to be our month anniversary, so -- since I was going all the way into the store for onions -- I figured I might as well get Bee some Phish Food.  And, since I just happened to be getting Bee a present, I was certain he'd want to reciprocate.  So he happened to get me Crème Brûlée.

Isn't he thoughtful?

Particularly since he'd already gotten me this when he was out of town:

This is from a chocolate factory near Seattle that I have fond memories of because, as a child, I got to tour it and get free samples!  Nirvana!

Unfortunately, time has ebbed my passion for their taste: hence why I only managed to eat five pieces yesterday.

Not that I'm willingly planning on sharing them, mind you: I have the box hidden up in my bedroom, where I continually slink off to in order to sneak in a quick piece (or, more realistically, two or three).

For some odd reason, between the B&J and the chocolate, my stomach's roiling and my heart is pounding right now.  Go figure.  Plus, I keep maniacally jumping from subject to subj--

Hey, guess what?  The bulbs I planted last fall are starting to bloom!!

It is so satisfying to my brown thumb when I discover I haven't killed a flower (yet).

And, finally, on to the First Ever Toxic Housewife Contest!! update:

Here are some of the doodles I came up with today:

The Snickerdoodle Express
Pink Piggy Cookie Company

White Elephant Cookies

Fat Cat Cookie Co.
(note I had to give up trying to draw the cat on his back because I couldn't figure out how to convincingly draw a back leg.)
(And because he sort of looks dead)

The Cookie Patch
Particularly after today's masterpieces, I'm not convinced I should attempt to have a mascot for the business.  Perhaps simply the business name is best?  Or a simple graphic, like the way "Fat Cat Cookie Co." has whiskers coming out of an 'o' in the picture?

Keep those ideas coming!  Four more days until the end of the contest!
